The lands of Ardion- A work in progress

The Castles & Crusades campaign that I have been running for the Minions is in full swing. With the help of Hexographer I've begun work on the campaign map. Pictured above is my progress so far.  I've decided to take a tip from "The Princess Bride" and give my nations currency names.

The boys are currently in the southern half of the kingdom of Sestertius, right outside of a small Halfling village known as NewBriar.  The nearest city to them is the port city of Barnacus "City in peril!"- old school dice slingers may remember the name from  Dragon #80.

  1. That's a coincidence. Our Lamentations of the Flame Princess game was set in Barnacus. Well, a version of it relocated to the in-game New World, anyway.

Of course since it was LotFP we ended up leading all our hirelings one by one to bloody & hideous death. The only survivor of the final encounter was the specialist, who dragged away a chest of gold aiming to buy a townhouse & snare himself a rich widow. What with all those ships sinking, the city was lousy with 'em.

  2. I like the map, I was just wondering what software you were using to create it ?

  3. Yeah that map is cool. EvilD would you be so kind as to comment on its use? Is it easy to learn? Pick up? Start up? etc.

  4. Hopefully the Minions will have a better go of Barnacus than Mark's character did. They barely escaped the "haunted" house!

Mark: Barnacus 2, the cthulhu boogaloo is on the design table right now.

  5. Barnacus is my single favourite Dragon article of all time. I drew my own map but swiped the keyed descriptions for my campaign. I also used "Treasures rare and wondrous". A great issue :)
